Il paese - The rustic Peza

"Il Paese" is a rustic villa in Peza village, (smth around 30 km from Tirana) with a classy design and great menu (and quality).
As an evaluation, i'd give a 4.5/5, considering location, food quality, service and entertainment.

It holds a story, or few for that matter, on its shoulders:

1.The village itself has its national celebration day, "Festa e Pezes" on September 16th, to remind "Peza Conference" and anti-fascist movement partisan gatherings. Every year, the municipality holds a two days festival with several music stages, bbq stands, beer stands and picnic places. People usually sleep outdoor on Peza Park during these two days. It's a very nice experience to participate.

2.The villa that now is "il Pease restaurant", used to be the home of a known albanian political character: Myslym Peza. He served as deputy chairman of the presidium of the People's Assembly of Albania between 1946-1982. His family now is the owner of the house and converted it to a prive' restaurant.

3.The restaurant opened in 2012.

4. Every summer thursday night, there's a rock night. live music and ground sitting. Amazing!

Hola! A spanish corner in Tirana

So, if you were not living in Tirana during 2014, probably you will not know  Francisco, a spanish chef from Master Chef Albania show.
After show completion, him and some other participants, followed their own path by opening some great restaurants (that i will review briefly in this blog).
So i started with Hola, the spanish corner where the spanish chef cooks where you see him.

Carlsberg a.k.a. Xheko Imperial a.k.a. Hotel President

Carlsberg is one of the oldest posh restaurants in Tirana. My first memories here start around 1998 if im not mistaken, with a first-timer fillet cooked on volcano stone (they still do it. it's a speciality)

Nowadays, they have evolved into a 5 stars hotel (Hotel President) and one of the most gorgeous verandas in Tirana. You should try the Rice & Pasta scrumbled in a Parmigiano wheel or the best meat delicacies
Best for: Aperitif, dinner with a view, for a glass of wine & live music.

  • During night the garden becomes a night club.
  • Best for: Dinner, ceremonies, french experience, aperitif or glass of wine.

Amor

Amor is a to-die-for restaurant.
Dont get fooled by the location or the small space of the restaurant.
There is no menu. the Chef has some specialities that he decides to make them or not, depending on your request.Or you can leave his creation explode on your dish.
Great desserts. Don’t miss the chocolate mousse & the chestnut cake.
The trio of pasta is my favorite here and the Fillet Mignon on a roasted red pepper sauce is the best in town.
Also don't miss the grilled pleuratis mushrooms.
Best for: Dinner, ceremonies
